Chilli-it have teamed up with Shield Advanced Solutions Limited to provide JobQGenie. JobQGenie is a critical tool for users of IBM i5 and is the only product available to address the functionality gap that exists in all i/OS High Availability applications.
While High Availability products are indispensable when replicating data and objects and managing system failures, they don't provide a mechanism for replicating the contents of a job queue. Because of that omission, users have no way of knowing what jobs were in the queue at the time of an unexpected outage.
JobQGenie is the key to simple and speedy recovery following a system failure. It addresses the problem by capturing the information about jobs as they load, run and complete, and then storing this for replication to the remote system. Should any jobs require resubmitting, the information collected can be used with the same parameters and environment variables. In a situation where the source system fails and jobs are mid-cycle it is possible to use the tools provided within JobQGenie to identify the data position and take the relevant action to bring the data to a state where the job can be re-submitted again.
JobQGenie collects information about jobs in the job queue to allow for better control of jobs that need to be resubmitted for execution. This includes the *CURLIB parameter, LOGCLP, and the job's priority in the queue.
The resubmission of jobs can be automated in several ways. Jobs that meet pre-defined criteria can be automatically resubmitted for execution by the software. The software also assures jobs that meet multiple criteria will only run once.
